In India, around 2.1 percent of the total population suffers from one of the other kinds of disability. Given the size of population, lack of resources both human and infrastructural and the rising cost of education results in less than 10% of children having access to basic education. This results in the social inclusion of children with special needs still being a distant dream. Special education is provided for children with emotional, behavioral, or cognitive impairments or with intellectual, hearing, vision, speech, or learning disabilities.
